Birthing the New
the waking vision
the birth of a whale
captured on film
a whale of a tail
sleek and suspended
out came the new
witnessed by a surprised
cove-swimming few
then up to the surface
that first breath of air
nudged by her mother
with such nurturing care
birthed into water
such freedom she felt
now close to her mother
and looking for milk
the pair now united
symbolic and zenned
readying to journey
as teacher and friend
