How to Spell
how to spell?
at school i did well
now times have changed
and words rearranged
thru the ages
& progressive stages
we’ve simplified
new rules applied
it’s become a skill
to abbreviate until
there’s little left
or right
when we text
it’s the context
symbol or word
it is still heard
meaning conveyed
misspelled or played?
threw out a rule
it’s a new school

The Tick and the Tock
between the tick and the tock
there is a gap
be it concept or clock
there’s a space to tap
tap into the glory
the freedom of space
the origin of story
a sacred place

The Speed of a Bead
drop a bead and let it go
the slope of the ground…fast or slow?
observe the bead as it does roll
sensitive to the ground as a whole
now don’t assume the bead is round
a different shape can hit the ground
if it is cubed or angular in form
it may stay where it lands and not perform
so the speed of a bead from still to fast
depends on the circumstances when it’s cast
and all we can do is observe and wait
and practice not to anticipate
allow its journey, watch and learn
every bead can also adjourn
its travels, its speed, the path it took
having met resistance or finding a nook
