Apprenticeship
we applied to learn and serve
to be here in this lifetime
our acceptance was proof
we qualified to be
an apprentice to the great teachers
a university of knowledge
experiential terms to test us
and so we move on
degree by degree
we become masters
able then to teach
and to model what we’ve learnt
the advancement of humanity
is dependant on our studies
research, observation
implementation of new ways

Like A Candle
the Earth gives us fuel
our bodies hold the wick
above is our flame
shining our light
feel that inner pathway
acknowledge what feeds us
shine our light bright
join in with others
like a sea of candles
soon the shadows
will be outshone

Edge Worn
a tire, a spade
a saw with its blade
a cliff, a snow drift
the knives we cut with
even our teeth
the shoes that we wear
edges are vulnerable
to a chip or a tear
as we observe
or replace or repair
there is a constant in life
there is change out there
