On a Sleepless Night
on a sleepless night
it is time to pause
why was i restless?
what was the cause?
infomercials delete
in the brain they compete
sanctify the edges
compassionate hedges
peace only peace
quiet and stillness
the very words calm
a soothing mind balm
somewhere there’s a tug
it has disturbed this whole night
what it represents
is a mysterious blight
stillness and quiet
and a question that’s asked
for help in the clearing
who’s up for the task?
present so present
the night will unfold
and a gift will be waiting
when it’s ready to be told

Water, Only Water
Water, only water
will quench this thirst
with a desire to put out the fire
we must attend to this first
Water, seeing water
All it surrounds
Cooling and wetting
It knows no bounds
Access, easy access
and a container to fill
Drinking, quenching
now extinguished and still
Water, only water
so precious and here
oh to honour this treasure
is abundantly clear
