take a piece of dripped-off wax

and hold it to the candle’s flame

let it drip into the well

of melted wax and gain

gain on flame’s burning time

for the flame will now burn lower

a life now lived longer

conserving energy by going slower

candle is teaching us

awareness the bestower

what is true or incorrect

quantum entanglement

is a field of recent study

Nobel Prize worthy

old beliefs relegated

to that place called fuddy duddy

fuddy duddy…old-fashioned

Ignited Within

Ignited Within

excitement

passion

joy

and awe

like striking a match

emotions that catch

and ignite something within

sometimes fear

or anger

a sense of danger

other emotions too

have ignited what grew

into our experiential living

as we live aware

of the emotions we share

we can accept and honour

when each day is a goner

our human existence

has been rich and persistent

in feeling our way

then we return to the night

turn out a light

go to stillness and silence

and let those embers rest

we slip into the beyond

received as a guest

soon we are dreaming

dreaming of love
