the simple element carbon
as pure diamond or graphite
appears also as compounds
in an infinite array
carbon copies form chains
and link to other elements
as part of organic compounds
they form the physical basis for life
generations of copies
as living organisms
not carbon perfect

listen to this room
the ears are receiving
struggle out of this cocoon
and know you are breathing
feel your movement expanding
what has trapped you is leaving
all those last fibres are breaking
there will be no loss no grieving
now able to spin
the motion is freeing
see with new eyes
what is your vision perceiving?
feeling into the surroundings
what is your mind believing?
the power of transformation
what has it been conceiving?
what is it you now recognize?
is it the joy of now achieving
