splashed on the face
awakening, awakening
into a state of grace
what is it we haven’t seen?
what is so commonplace?
slipping into a nothingness
stagnant
our desire to make a difference
sometimes only a trace
too much busyness
old habits taking our time
what is it we really love to do?
is it present, first in line?

secluded, softly lit
a place to retreat to
to take that inner look
sometimes a place of solitude
or a place to bring a friend
sometimes to sit in silence
or to a troubled mind attend
celebrate this safe place
where peace and calm amend
becoming a sanctuary of gratitude
