The Adventure of Life

a freedom to be
to share and to see
our eyes are our own
and experiences are sown
into the very fibre of our being

come play and be happy
child-like, fresh and loving
curious, open to the new
friendly and unstable
until confidence is found

a rebel is born to test his environment
running, bouncing from shifting stones,
rolling logs, tempting the impossible
growing, loving the exhilaration of speed
and newness of discovery

sometimes a detour
sometimes a rebuke
but love of life always wins
it is not about luck
but possibilities

remaining the dreamer
the what ifs that might be
imagining and wanting
growing that tree
of abundance and
ineffable love

The Speed of a Bead

The Speed of a Bead

drop a bead and let it go
the slope of the ground…fast or slow?
observe the bead as it does roll
sensitive to the ground as a whole

now don’t assume the bead is round
a different shape can hit the ground
if it is cubed or angular in form
it may stay where it lands and not perform

so the speed of a bead from still to fast
depends on the circumstances when it’s cast
and all we can do is observe and wait
and practice not to anticipate

allow its journey, watch and learn
every bead can also adjourn
its travels, its speed, the path it took
having met resistance or finding a nook
