Conquering the Fire

the fire within is fuelled by emotions
the emotions of anger, of fear and of shame
there is a lashing out, all-consuming hopelessness
often resulting in a great desire to blame

who is responsible for the turmoil of emotions
the emotions we feel, that are real?
our emotions are the fuel
so to put out the fires
we must remove
tinder-dry fuel

going to gratitude
is life itself not what we cherish and treasure?
where is the lesson and our strength to overcome?
comforting ourselves for we are the survivors
sharing with others and adding an offer to help

acknowledging our emotions
then going to silence
finding the emptiness
the quiet within

asking the questions
praying for answers
listening to what arrives
and knowing the truth

we can be the eagles, sometimes the albatross
we are the hummingbird and the angels divine
we can fly high, changing with altitude
being many expressions then returning as doves
returning to…the peace and the gratitude
for these emotions are found
found thru our love
