Clemency
clemency, clemency
that word kept appearing
was it a foreshadowing
of what was to come?
clemency, lenience
seen thru the lens of understanding
does it permit
repetition to emerge?
once it has been established
that pattern of imbalance
once discussed and agreement reached
can we then move on to peace?
only by establishing
new practices, new habits
will we release the old
and become balanced at last
on our soul journeys
we dance with many partners
some are our teachers
others represent our past
opportunities abound
new ways to respond
intentions at the forefront
and time to move on
choices, always choices
the gift of the living
what will we choose?
is it love or more grief?
