Be
a soul sister has mentioned to me
have you noticed how many words start with “be”?
she mentioned a few and then our list grew
she was excited they all had a positive feeling
ah but this is how she lives and wants to be
being
beloved
behold
believe
become
belong
befriend
bestow
the beauty of words with the prefix “be”
and then, smiling, the questions
to be or not to be?
love?
what are we being?

A Toast to the Most
we were invited to tea
to visit an elderly aunt
having been cautioned
she might not know us
oh but she did!
a lively conversation ensued
then she shared a gift of her values
and how life was to be viewed
our conversation included
a description of Ram Dass
and his well known teaching of
“love everyone”
our aunt picked up her tea mug
and led us in a toast
here’s to love everyone!
