Antonio Stradivarius
a name from the past
refined his art to a quality
that would last and outlast
many generations
perhaps 600 instruments
violins in particular
are still coveted and played
others preserved, displayed
honouring the artist
and the sacredness
of sound
how can an instrument
made over 3000 years ago
still share its beauty
to the human ear?

Justification
justification can be a war zone
it can be a slanted explanation
of the whys by wanting to score
at the expense of another
when the truth is conveyed
it is conveyed heart to heart
the sincerity is felt
it need not be questioned

Anywhere
global indifference is still rampant today
even with advanced communication systems
that penetrate and monitor our suffering and may
give us opportunities to address what’s at play
humanity is equipped to deal with personal suffering
but global fear and hatred is what we’re uncovering
even the surveys that ask for our response
give political parties a measurement from what is ensconced
can we risk not addressing global issues out there?
will ignoring the pain, the death, the total injustice
affect peoples’ votes when we are on the cuspis
of an election?
we are in this together
global peace and happiness
is for all of us to address
our vote
is not remote
