Communication by Presence
our primary way of communicating
is with our simple physical presence
from the time of our birth
we have known the value, the worth
of touch, of being held
no words even needed
and so at any age
there is never a stage
when we don’t crave
that physical presence
being seen and heard
is what we observe
and that light touch
that pat on the back
that comforting hug
it is a primal fact
that there is a tug
a tug on the heart
knowing we’re loved
