Apologies
we know what it feels like
to be overwhelmed, out of sync
yet we cannot be like another
we don’t know what they think
we don’t know what they feel
what to them is so real
the connections, the reflections
on the lives they have lived
we cannot corral another into our ways
into our time frames, into our days
we must allow them their very own journey
bow out and honour who they will become
recognizing this we can offer an apology
for we have trespassed on their sacred ground
we can ask for forgiveness for our enthusiastic endeavour
our enthusiasm for our perspectives, our knowingness
must not influence

outcome
