Sparkles Appearing
in an obscure corner a flash appeared
a bright flash
a metallic blue splash
and then it was gone
it was not a reflection
it was not a flame
a mysterious presence
gone as quickly as it came
what we are seeing now
in our very own homes
is the appearance of
the garden gnomes
they’ve returned to remind us
they are here to guard
Mother Earth’s treasures
that they protect and hoard
they would describe their work
as being below board
hidden, mysterious
dedicated towards
preservation
what is within the Earth
cannot be disturbed
our mining and extracting
has the garden gnomes perturbed
