Child Play
when a bully is present
a child will retreat
maybe asking for help
from someone bigger than the bully
or gathering others around
to show a solid force
and the bully is defeated
his dominance unseated
and the child goes back to play

In the Midst of Chaos

In the Midst of Chaos
for some time now
we find ourselves
in the midst of chaos
as always
the way we cope
and hang on to hope
is to go within
deep into the heart
a safe place
to practice our art
of loving kindness
to go to quiet and peace
where the chaos we release
becoming the emptiness
allowing a space to begin
to begin as the new
it is all we can do
forgiving the past
a new net is cast
into the future

A Candle is Lit

A Candle is Lit
this candle is lit
and beside it we sit
bathed in its glow
in gratitude we know
our insight
the light draws us within
to the elemental being
not feeling or seeing
free in the quiet
of inner space
and not to erase
the outer isness
our business of life
but to empty out
allowing the freedom
to begin again
