Unprogrammed

sometimes we are programmed
not to feel any pain
to always be strong
let our suffering be reigned
in

suffering reigned in
collects negative emotions
held tightly, ignored
held in our core
hidden

sometimes taught by parent or other
sometimes a cultural way
an inner voice tells us
i can do this myself
i am strong

by using our willpower, our strength
we feel we can go to any length
and conquer all challenges
but can we?
alone?

we are never alone even when nobody’s home
we are surrounded by others
and they are our allies
they help us uncover
who we are

some have learned to hide their emotions
until they cannot feel them at all
but are human and created
to experience all
emotions

our bodies will tell us about physical pain
but the joy of feeling the whole spectrum
comes from feeling it all
learning, discerning
recovering, rejoicing
sharing and being
human

let us undo the programmes
use our strength to discover
how powerful the recall
of feeling the spectrum
by loving ourselves
