No More Man to Enter an Army

No More Man to Enter an Army

no more man to enter an army…
an answer to the question
how to best serve?

no more man
the singular expression
no human to fight
in army or reserve

if no one now chose to enlist
what would be the consequences?
what would be the change?
what could be arriving
just around the curve?

perhaps there is a new way
one that now makes sense
peace does not come from fighting
but from calming the collective nerve

let us steer our attention
to solutions that create peace
what is out of balance?
what suffering has occurred?

magnitudes of expression
define the common intent
to bring about peace and harmony
comes into focus from what was blurred

Crimes Against Humanity

Crimes Against Humanity

the very words, crimes against humanity
are very hard to hear – why?
kindness, tolerance, compassion are all
synonyms for the word humanity

to treat another in a humane way
describes what humanity is about
so how is it that a human, of human identity
can mistreat other people, members of his kind?

we have all been responsible for these crimes
throughout history they’ve existed multiple times
and the perpetrators are usually not alone
many have followers, many a clone

deeply within is where to begin
where are we judging?
do we condemn?
what are we guilty of?
do we think for ourselves?
or who do we follow and why?

do we have patience?
do we seek to understand?
do we ever feel jealous?
do we intimidate or demand?

what is our personality?
are we loving and kind?
can we forgive and let go?
does heart rule over mind?

are we generous and supportive?
do we love who we are?
so many questions
we’ve examined so far

to eliminate greed
to love and look after
to enhance life with beauty
to hear joy and laughter

the peace that we seek
the world we desire
must come from ourselves
and from there we’ll inspire

let us forgive
let us find a new way
let us be generous
as we start each new day

a day at a time
a new world we’ll create
from love into oneness
for humanity’s sake

Asked to Obey

Asked to Obey

when asked to obey
who is doing the asking?
a question of importance
before performing the tasking

is it a parent, a teacher we trust?
is it a leader saying we must?
is it an authority looking after our safety?
is it a demand, casual or hasty?
is it an inner voice?

to obey a rule
whether commandments or agreements
may offer safety or stability
as we navigate the web

the web of life
interactive connectivity
experiences stability of growth
with discernment then reactivity

the web has fractal patterns and beauty
created from harmony and balance
the web holds many creative indulgences
each fractal is there to enhance

to enhance the web with infinite possibilities
and we’re given the power of choice
each link in the web offers us options
are we to choose or be told what’s to be?

even with the concept of obedience
we remember “know thy inner truth”
and it’s a time to review time-honoured practices
have these offered up some past proof?

each intersection offers a new choice point in time
a place to ask questions in order to define:
has the old way provided a way and a means
to co-habit this planet co-creating balance and beauty
remembering we’re here to attend to our sacred duty?
growing the love?

picture taking threads of sunbeams and moonbeams
stitching in love, stitching in peace
gently mending, attending to any gaps in her seams
these are our choices that can answer our dreams

what voice do we choose to obey?
